1lb of fat: Putting it on and Getting it off

Let’s get real here. We all love food, we all love drinks, we all love having a good time! Most of us know what we “should be doing” to reach our personal goals- but a few things always get in the way like:

  • Social Gatherings
  • Alcohol
  • Desserts
  • Snacks
  • Boredom
  • Stress
  • And MUCH MORE!

Most of us know what we “should be doing” to reach our personal goals- but a few things always get in the way

What if I told you that you can have those things and reach your goals? The answer is to just be mindful. Know what you are putting in your body and when to stop, know how often you are exercising and make sure you are having fun while doing it– but most importantly learn moderation. Don’t try to out-exercise a bad diet and don’t starve yourself due to inactivity.

That brings me to the point of this blog post- did you know that 1lbs of fat is roughly equal to 3500 calories? Did you also know that in order to lose weight you need to consume fewer calories than the energy you are putting out? This is the Energy In VS. Energy Out rule.

So let’s talk about ways you can put on 1 lb of fat:

  • An entire medium supreme pizza (3.257)
  • One Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries and Milkshake (3,200)
  • Chicken tender salad( no dressing), brownie lovers dessert and 2 rolls (3,460)

For some people, one meal can put on 1 lb of fat!!

For some people, one meal can put on 1 lb of fat!! Honestly, it is way easier to consume 3,500 calories with the number of food products being made and mass-produced. Not to mention its all over the media so we are constantly being tempted. Once again- our love of food gets in the way of our goals!

Now let’s talk about what it would take to get that 1lb of fat off:

  • 3-10 hours on the treadmill
  • 4.5 hours on the stationary bike, jumping rope, swimming laps, or the elliptical*
  • 7 hours playing tennis or on the stair stepper*

WOW!! It takes a lot of work to get 1 lb of fat off
