Everyday, you made a decision to commit to your health and well being. When you look at the wellness continuum and notice what all falls under/ between sickness and fitness. You have taking measures to put yourself and your family in a position of wellness.
So what does this mean and why is it important? You have created habits to prevent sickness, not just react to illness. You have continued to focus on nutrition and fitness as well as other habits that help with wellness. Here are just a few that you should continue to focus on.
1. SLEEP
Sleep is the most underrated habit. You should try to get at least 7-8hrs per night of restful sleep. You may say, there is no way! There are many things that you can do to help calm you body and mind to sleep through the night. Turn off all electronics at least 30 min before bed. Take a bath to relax your mind and your body. Stretching can help relax your body before bed. Reading in bed helps calm the mind and often makes your eyes sleepy enough to fall asleep. Try some of these in the next couple of weeks and see if you don't feel 1000% better.
2. HEALTHY EATING
Start with something as simple as the plate method. Eating healthy does not have to be complicated. Remember that things like sugar, alcohol, fried foods, soda, and processed boxed foods feed sickness. I want you to feel your best through this time and eating foods that boost immunity will be key. Some of those foods are: Garlic, Green veggies(broccoli and spinach), Yogurt, Almonds, Citrus fruits and apples, Green Tea, and Protein. Eat more of those and less of the things that combat sickness.
3. EXERCISE
Exercise improves your overall fitness, which can help boost your immune system. It may flush bacteria out of the lungs and the airways. It causes a change in the antibodies and white blood cells which help fight illness. Exercise also slows down the release of the stress hormone, which means less illness. So, exercise is definitely good for the body and the soul!
4. STAY HYDRATED
Staying hydrated helps you flush out toxins and other bacteria that might cause infections. Drink at least 60-80 oz of water a day.
We as a nation have entered into some interested times. For all of you that have prepared for a hurricane, it feels just like that but on a global level.
